Steamed Nian Gao with Grated Coconut


We decided to end the Chinese New Year celebration with something sweet!

RECIPE - STEAMED NIAN GAO WITH GRATED COCONUT


INGREDIENTS:

½ medium size Nian Gao
White grated coconut (from 1 coconut)
Pinch of salt

METHOD:
  1. Mix the grated coconut with pinch of salt.
  2. Prepare steamer.
  3. Cut the Nian Gao to cube at your desired size. Place the Nian Gao on a plate lined with banana leaf.
  4. Once the steamer water is boiling, steam the Nian Gao over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from steamed Nian Gao from steamer. Roll in the grated coconut with a pair of chopsticks.
  6. Serve immediately.
